Castlemilk Trail Race 2026 brief

What is it?

Castlemilk Trail Race is an approximate 10k or 6k trail race. There’s a bit of guess work with trail distances, trees interfere with the GPS etc, hence a rough distance. It’s pretty close!

It’s our trailiest trail race! A little bit more technical in places than our other events, it will keep you on your toes. Plenty of mud, plenty of elevation, plenty of fun. Obviously an Acorn Trails event. Trail shoes advised!

Where?

The start and finish line is the old golf club house in Linn Park, G44 5EP.

When?

Registration is from 8.30 until 9.20. Please don’t all turn up at the last second! 😜

A quick race brief at 9.25, and race start at 9.30.

Bag drop available at registration. Nothing huge please…space is limited. Stuff left at owners own risk.

Route..

A quick skip through the edge of Linn Park and down to the road crossing. Runners do not have right of way over traffic. Our marshals have no permission to stop traffic. They do have permission to stop runners. Please heed their instructions.

Once over the road we’re into Castlemilk Woodlands. There’s a two loop section within the woods. It’s beautiful! You’ll quickly meet the mud and some gentle undulations to warm you up for the ups and downs ahead.

Throughout the race you will see runners on other parts of the route. The course passes closely to other sections of the route. Stick to the path you’re on and don’t get distracted by them thinking you’re on the wrong path! You’ll be on that bit soon enough!

There’s some small fallen logs and tree to navigate. We recommend the Santa Step to clear these rather than standing on them. The tops are sometimes slippery. Be careful!

After a couple of loops of the best trail running Glasgow has to offer, you’ll head back over the road. Remember you’re tired when you’re crossing, and once again listen to those instructions.

You’ll be at the finish line soon, where you can celebrate and swear at Alex whilst enjoying a wee snack.

There’s water available on the route on the second lap only.

Prizes

All finishers will receive an Acorn Trails buff-style garment on crossing the line.

Migo Sports vouchers will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for the 10k. £35/£25/£15.

6k podiums will receive a free entry to Pollok Park Trail Race 10k.

Age category winners will be given a free entry to Pollok Park Trail Race taking place on May 10th.

Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday morning.
