Saints Day
St. Andrew’s Day
The sky shone blue on another beautiful South By Five day. All that was needed was a couple of crossed contrails to celebrate St Andrews Day….

It wasn’t just a blue sky, runners were encouraged to celebrate and several of yous came attired accordingly.

Volunteers also joined in, and Colin the Clown AKA Colin the Cone became Coin the Kilt. The alliteration continues, lets see what he comes up with for the rest of the series.

A St Andrews flag on route even had some runners stop mid race to pose for a wee selfie!

Good cheer
It was a day for good cheer and good cheering. Starting at the race brief as assembled runners congratulated Acorn debutantes Sarah and Andy on their engagement! Congratulations guys!
The cheers didn’t stop there. Perfect music selection by Colin, with The Glen by Baluga Lagoon on the airwaves for the march to the start, and then right from 3, 2, 1 GO, the route was alive with noise.
Vuvusaela, tambourines, cowbells and children’s cheers, shouts and dog barks was the music of the meadow!
The encouragement was absolutely what the runners needed on a challenging and undulating route – and we all know what that is code for!
There was mud a plenty on the very varied route. Some enjoyed it a bit more up close than others, with David Kelly having a close inspection whilst following the instructions to “duck” under the fallen tree a bit zealously!

Results
The third installment is when we see a few folk drop of the series standings. Remember you need to complete 5 of the 6 races to be in for the series competition.
Still plenty of fun to be had at the individual events regardless of whether you’re in for the series or not.
Rouken Glen’s podiums were taken up by:
đŸ¥‡ Andrew Anderson (Cambuslang Harriers) & Kristina Glynn (Bellahouston Harriers)
đŸ¥ˆCallum Wallace (Bellahouston Harriers) & Karen McQuarrie (Bellahouston Harriers)
đŸ¥‰Richard Cooper (Cambuslang Harriers) & Sarah Jeffreys (Shropshire Shufflers)
Well done all! Some very speedy times there, especially given the route elevation profile!
