Pollok Park Trail Race event report
Pollok Park Trail Races What a great finish line. Tree lined, daffodil strewn, and downhill toward the gates and splendour of grade ‘A’ listed, Pollok House. All the runners at the Pollok Park Trail Races particularly enjoyed this bit! The preceding bit generated mixed feelings! Our hi-viz hero, Ann-Marie recorded several F-words and a couple of C-bombs, as she gleefully (by her own admission maybe a bit over exuberantly!) directed already weary legs up the […]
South By Five 2 – Lx5 “The Duck Pond”
Linn Park is Alex’s favourite of the series. There’s no prizes for guessing why! It’s the sort of route that puts the “trail” into Acorn Trails! And features our now infamous Duck Pond! The weather on Sunday was, well, South By Five. The rain held off for the race allowing runners to keep dry. From about the neck up! Saturday’s rain meant there was mud aplenty. And puddles. And a Duck Pond. If all that […]
Dunky 23 report and results
Having just read last year’s Dunky race report and results, I figured I could almost copy and paste!! A week of torrential rain ✅ Great weather for the race ✅ Family holiday in Greece ✅ Course record ✅ Amazing day ✅ Thanks to Tesco, Milngavie and Migo Sports ✅ A race report doesn’t get much easier eh? One of these years the weather is going to come and get us! Club representation It was amazing […]
Bx5 report
Nearly there Writing this, I joined with several of you who’d commented they couldn’t believe South By Five was nearly over. With Bellahouston Park the penultimate event, we’re very much into the final hill of the series as we run headlong towards Queens Park. Quiet those sighs of relief. Of course that sentence isn’t literal, there’s definitely more than one hill left!!! In the mix We’ve 84 runners still in the mix, having 30 runners […]
Px5 results and report
Twenty four hours before Pollok By Five kicks off, and the resident parkrun cancel their event due to the icy conditions. Subsequently, the obvious questions landed with us. Would we be going ahead? With a later start time, and a much more traily route than parkrun we considered ourselves much safer from the ice risk. Wrong! Saturday afternoon’s usual pre-race litter pick took place. From the get go it was apparent some tweaks would be […]
Sx5 Kings Park race report and results
South By Five Running is often billed as a free sport. Ask runners, and they’ll tell you the cost of trainers, tshirts, jackets, belts, gloves, waterproofs, races soon add up! South By Five this year was aimed to help with the rising costs. And we visited Kings Park for the first event. Entrants were asked to give only what they could afford to a variety of, let’s call them ‘ethical’ options. Tree planting in a […]
Linn Park Centenary Trail Race report and results
It is a great feeling hosting a race for the second time. Linn Park Centenary Trail Race was our first real life race (i.e. non virtual event). For that reason alone it’s always going to be an important one for us. Of course the fantastic route, the hills and the mud also mean its always going to be a feature of our calendar. The feedback we had from 2021 meant we could not leave this […]

The Sad Demise Of The Small Race Trophy
Hi Coach In the absence of negative feedback, I’m assuming (tacit) permission to treat you as an ‘alternate audience’ when my usual audience (Running Niece) is in the same race at Mabie Forest😊 Mabie 10k Trail Race. 10/06/18 Is there a setting more beautiful but still eminently accessible, than Mabie Forest? This wee race has to be one of the best ever. We’ve entered every year since we started racing…6 years now…and it was the […]
