Migo Mile for March
Migo Mile For March March motored by! The Clyde Stride Ultra Marathon ballot took place and with the virtual South By Five in full swing, the Migo Mile for March was soon upon us. With glimmers of light appearing at the end of the tunnel, we hope this will have been the penultimate virtual version. All being well, in contrast to May 2020 being our first virtual, hopefully May 21, will see us host the […]
(Not)running with Paulius
Romy is (not) running with Paulius When Paulius Peciura, originally from Lithuania but Glaswegian since 2012, finished his 15 mile run on 28th February 2021, his girlfriend surprised him with some treats, a “Whale Done” mug, and a “365 days running streak” medal. He looks well chuffed that he has managed to keep running every day for the past year, clocking an impressive 3,821 miles (6,149km). I feel slightly guilty because I nearly broke his […]
Migo Mile For February
Migo Mile Migo Mile for February ran alongside the last week’s challenge of Absolutely Febulous, Short and Sweet. This challenge was to run a mile, so tied in well with Migo Mile with a few doubling up to do both. February can be a variable month for weather. Three years ago, saw the Beast From The East bury Glasgow in snow late February. That would have made an interesting race report! Fortunately for 2021 the […]
Absolutely Febulous – Short and Sweet
Short and Sweet Short and Sweet brings February and Absolutely Febulous to a close. For those that have completed the full month of challenges, I bet there has been a small sigh of relief. We hope you have had fun during the month, and that your speedy finish during Short and Sweet was not a desperate dash for the finish line! Some of you cleverly combined your Short and Sweet mile with the Migo Mile […]
Absolutely Febulous – Acorn Art
Acorn Art As far as a “race report” goes this Acorn Art one is pretty easy! We can let the pictures do the talking… Some folk submitted some real works of art, others……others tried hard. And that was the idea. Give it a go and see what you can come up with. We hope the participants enjoyed taking part as much as the audience enjoyed what we shared during the challenge across our social media. […]
Absolutely Febulous – Love Lomond
Love Lomond Week 2 of Absolutely Febulous was always going to be a bit of a tough challenge, as Windy would say, ‘for some not all’. Not having great local elevation would add to the challenge for some. Having completed their longest ever week of running in week 1, InterCity, of Absolutely Febulous would make the second week, Love Lomond, a challenge for others. The weather would also have a say in the number of […]
Absolutely Febulous – InterCity
InterCity Absolutely Febulous got off to a racing start, with our virtual Edinburgh to Glasgow Relay challenge, InterCity. Racing snakes, mud hogs, and hill lovers alike took off from the start line in “Edinburgh” and headed west towards the setting sun of “Glasgow”. By the end of the week competitors had completed over 1000km between them (997km, but two did not report in, so we’ll use poetic license and assume they completed 3km between them!). […]
Virtual Migo Mile for January
Virtual Migo Mile for January January’s Migo Mile was once again a virtual event. The first time the Mile has been held under the Acorn Trails brand since the switch on 1st January from TRB. Trialling a new entry and results system we teamed up with MilesAway to take the details for your free entry. We would love to know what you thought? It was a virtual race under tricky conditions – patchy ice across […]
Happy Birthday Dunky
A success. We’re definitely calling the Dunky just that. With £333 raised for the Woodland Trust, and 30 new trees planted with Trees For Life, I am sure you will all agree too. We had entries from as far apart as Canada to Edinburgh, and Inverness to Jersey! From ages 9 to 94, and all the age categories in between, a total of 80 entries. A full range of conditions were undertaken by finishers. Battered […]
Sketching, Running and Raising Money for Shelter
Sketching, Running and Raising Money for Shelter I took part in my first Marcothon in 2020. I’ve run for over 10 years now, but spent a large part of the last two years with a string of foot injuries. I had stopped running completely when lockdown struck, but being cooped up with my husband and three sons sent me running out the door again. Since a podiatrist recommended HOKAs in July I’ve been running the […]
